Katrina 10 Project

This August, we will mark 10 years since Hurricane Katrina, and here is the bottom line—we have been through more than most, but we survived it because we came together. And while we still have work left to do, ours is a story of strength and resilience, and it’s a story we must share.

To tell this story as only we can, we launched Katrina 10 to commemorate the lives lost, to honor those who helped us survive, to acknowledge the work that has been done, and to ensure that we continue to build on our progress in the future.

DESAIX AREA NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION will participate in the Katrina 10 Year Anniversary Citywide Day of Service on August 29, 2015.  We are asking for 50 volunteers to participate in DANA’s Drain Cleaning Project.  We will clean out drain grates for the entire DeSaix Area, which in turn will help prevent street flooding.

TIME:  8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

LOCATION:  We will meet at Langston Hughes Academy where we will have a short orientation and streets will be assigned to volunteers.

LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED!
